Devotion
Jesus did not tell us the exact day or hour of His return. Instead, He told us to be ready.
We can become so busy with work, money, relationships, plans, and the problems of everyday life that we forget eternity is real. The return of Christ is not something to fear if we belong to Him—but it is something we must take seriously.
Being ready does not mean sitting around waiting for the sky to open. It means living faithfully today.
Are you walking with Jesus?
Are you forgiving those who have hurt you?
Are you serving others?
Are you standing for truth when it is unpopular?
Are you using the gifts God has given you?
Are you keeping your heart free from things that pull you away from Him?
The wise servant does not wait until the master arrives before becoming faithful. He is faithful while the master is away.
Every day is another opportunity to get our hearts right with God, to repent, to love, to serve, and to share the Gospel.
The world may tell you that there is plenty of time. Jesus tells you to be ready.
The Son of Man is coming.
So live today in such a way that if Christ returned tonight, you would have no reason to be ashamed of how you lived.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, keep my heart awake and my spirit ready. Help me not to become distracted by the things of this world. Give me courage to live faithfully, strength to stand for truth, and compassion to serve others. Help me to repent quickly, forgive freely, and follow You wholeheartedly. When You come, may You find me faithful. Amen.
Practical Action Step
Today, do three things:
1. Pray and ask God to show you anything in your life that needs to change.
2. Make peace with someone you have been holding resentment against, if possible.
3. Serve someone without expecting anything in return.
Be ready. Stay faithful. Keep your lamp burning. The King is coming.
