My mother was the Head Chef at the Latrobe Country Club for 17 years owned by Arnold Palmer until her retirement. My father during that time was a fighter pilot with the RAF after joining in Canada when Britain entered WW11. After the was over he owner several business attaining Sr. Exec Vice President of Ryder Tank and Truck Lines. Both are now deceased.
Now a little about me. I graduated from HS in Melbourne, FL, when at that time I always wanted to be a pilot and earned my Private Pilot license. Interesting, how fate has different ideas. I graduated with a full scholarship to LSU in Chemistry and Physics working two jobs for extra money. After graduation I retained a job with Pfizer Research in Greensboro. NC and after two years was transferred to Pfizer Nuclear Research located in Oak Ridge, TN for 5 years. During the time I continued to fly and became an Instructor and left Pfizer to teach in Macon, GA and then moved on to teaching in Vero Beach, FL with Flight Safety. During the years I continued to fly and finally worked into a job flying with UPS until retiring in 2006, fell in love, my better half, Ellen and I started to travel seeing the world from the ground up instead of looking down.
One of the more satisfying times of my life have been with the Shrine Circus and visiting the children in the hospitals, see their eyes light up and know that I helped in whatever small way that I could to make small parts of their lives easier. With my days with the Salvation Army in the soup kitchen and driving the food truck twice a month and feeding the homeless 50-60 at a time and in small ways making their lives better each time. I felt that in some small way that I was making a contribution. I felt that Christ looked at me and I felt in some small way that I was a part of the world and making it somewhat better.
On one of our trips, I witnessed the Lord and Christ personally on a visit to the Loretto Chapel in Santa Fe, NM and again in March of this year. I was interested in history and was researching the Knights Templar at the time looking for answers. I asked questions and all was answered with Grand Prior Derek Nordio and I look forward to continuing my journey.
