The Mystery of the Ten Kings in Bible Prophecy
The Bible speaks about ten kings in both Daniel and Revelation. These passages fit together and point to events that take place near the end of this present age.
Daniel 7:24 says:
“And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise…”
Later, Revelation 17:12-13 explains:

The Bible speaks about ten kings in both Daniel and Revelation. These passages fit together and point to events that take place near the end of this present age.
Daniel 7:24 says:
“And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise…”
Later, Revelation 17:12-13 explains:
And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.
According to the Bible:
* The ten horns represent ten kings.
* At the time John received the Revelation, these kings had not yet received their kingdoms.
* They will receive authority for a short period (“one hour”) together with the beast.
* They will be united in purpose and will give their authority to the beast, supporting his rule.
The Bible also tells us what they will do next.
Revelation 17:14 says:
These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings.
No matter how powerful these kings become, Jesus Christ will ultimately defeat them. The victory belongs to the Lamb.
The Bible further reveals a dramatic change.
Revelation 17:16-17 says that the ten kings will eventually turn against the woman called “Babylon the Great.” They will hate her, strip her, destroy her, and burn her with fire, because God puts it into their hearts to fulfil His purpose. Even human rulers ultimately accomplish God’s sovereign plan.
The Bible does not identify these ten kings by name, nor does it tell us which modern nations they represent. Christians have proposed different interpretations throughout history, but Scripture itself does not specify their identities. Therefore, we should be careful not to claim certainty where the Bible does not.
What the Bible clearly teaches is this:
* Ten kings will arise.
* They will unite with the beast.
* They will oppose Christ.
* They will fulfil God’s prophetic purpose.
* Jesus Christ will completely overcome them and establish His eternal kingdom.
