📖 Is Baptism in Acts 2:38 for the Jews Only?
The short biblical answer: No.
While Acts of the Apostles 2:38 was first preached to Jews on the Day of Pentecost, the message was not limited to Jews only. The New Testament shows it applies to all nations.
1️⃣ It Was First Preached to Jews (Acts 2)
On the Day of Pentecost, Peter preached to Jews in Jerusalem:

1️⃣ It Was First Preached to Jews (Acts 2)
On the Day of Pentecost, Peter preached to Jews in Jerusalem:
Acts 2:38 – “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
Yes, the audience in Acts 2 were Jews (Acts 2:5).
But notice what Peter says next:
Acts 2:39 – “For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.”
“All that are afar off” points beyond the Jews.
2️⃣ The Same Message Was Given to Samaritans
In Acts 8:12,16, Samaritans were:
Baptized
In the name of the Lord Jesus
Samaritans were not Jews — yet they received the same pattern.
3️⃣ The Same Message Was Given to Gentiles
In Acts of the Apostles 10, Cornelius (a Gentile Roman) received the Holy Ghost.
Then Peter commanded:
Acts 10:48 – “And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.”
Gentiles were included.
Peter later confirmed:
Acts 11:17 – “God gave them the like gift as he did unto us…”
Same experience. Same salvation.
4️⃣ The Gospel Is for All Nations
Jesus commanded:
Matthew 28:19 – “Go ye therefore, and teach all 👈nations, baptizing them…”
Mark 16:16 – “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved…”
Salvation was never meant for Jews only.
5️⃣ Paul Preached the Same to Gentiles
In Acts 19:5, Gentile disciples were:
“baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.”
Paul also wrote:
Galatians 3:28 – “There is neither Jew nor Greek… for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.”

Acts 2:38 was:
First preached to Jews👈
Then to Samaritans👈
Then to Gentiles👈
(((Now to all nations))))
The pattern of repentance, baptism in Jesus’ Christ, and receiving the Holy Ghost is shown throughout the book of Acts for everyone God calls.
