During the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus gave one of the Bible’s most encouraging invitations to everyone who longs to know God more deeply.
Jesus says:
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” — Matthew 7:7–8 (NIV)
These words reveal the loving heart of our Heavenly Father. Jesus invites us to approach God with confidence, persistence, and faith—not because we deserve His favor, but because He is gracious, loving, and faithful.
To ask means bringing our prayers, needs, fears, and desires before God with humility and trust.
To seek means pursuing God Himself above everything else. It is a lifelong commitment to know His will through His Word, prayer, worship, and faithful obedience.
To knock symbolizes perseverance. Even when answers seem delayed, Jesus encourages us not to give up. We continue trusting that God hears every sincere prayer and responds according to His perfect wisdom, timing, and purpose.
This passage is not a promise that God will grant every request exactly as we imagine. Rather, Jesus assures us that our Heavenly Father lovingly gives what is truly good to those who seek Him. Sometimes His answer is “yes,” sometimes “wait,” and sometimes “I have something better.” Because God sees the end from the beginning, His answers are always guided by perfect love and wisdom.
The greatest gift we receive is not merely answered prayers—it is a deeper relationship with the One who invites us into His presence. When we seek God first, He transforms our hearts, strengthens our faith, and opens doors that lead to His perfect purpose.
Keep praying. Keep seeking. Keep knocking.
The God who invites you to come is always faithful.

Heavenly Father, thank You for inviting us to come before You with confidence. Teach us to ask with faith, seek You above everything else, and keep knocking with unwavering trust. Help us accept Your answers with humble hearts, knowing that Your plans are always good. Strengthen our faith, deepen our relationship with You, and lead us according to Your perfect will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
