In Daniel 9:24–27, God revealed to the prophet Daniel a prophecy known as the Seventy Weeks. These “weeks” represent periods of years, revealing God’s prophetic timetable for Israel and the coming of the Messiah.
The prophecy foretold that:
• The Messiah would come at the appointed time.
• He would be “cut off”—a prophecy pointing to His sacrificial death.
• Jerusalem and the Temple would later be destroyed.
• A final seven-year period still awaits fulfilment, leading to the return of Christ and God’s final dealings with the nations.
