Sometimes God doesn't remove the staircase because He wants to teach you to walk by faith, not by sight. What you see as a difficult climb may be the very path He is using to bring you closer to Him.
Don't compare your journey with someone else's. Their steps are not your steps. Their timing is not your timing. God has a purpose for your journey.
When the road becomes difficult, pray.
When your heart becomes tired, rest in God.
When you feel lost, seek His direction.
When you fall, get back up.
