INTRODUCTION
The Christian life is not maintained by feelings. Some mornings we feel strong; other days we feel weak. Circumstances change, emotions fluctuate, and trials come unexpectedlyβbut our position in Christ does not change.
That is why believers need their minds continually renewed by sound doctrine.
Romans 12:2 KJV β β...be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind...β
From a dispensational perspective, we especially need to remember who God has made us in Christ according to the revelation of the Mystery committed to Paul.
π Romans 16:25
π Ephesians 3:1β9
These seven reminders are not a formula for getting saved. They are truths that should shape the daily thinking of someone who is already saved by grace through faith.
1οΈβ£ GOD IS MY FATHER β REMEMBER YOUR RELATIONSHIP
π Romans 8:15; Galatians 4:6β7; Ephesians 1:3
The believer does not approach God as a condemned sinner trying to earn acceptance. Through Christ, we have a blessed relationship with God.
A. RECEIVED as Sons
π Galatians 4:6
βAnd because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.β
We are not working to become God's children.
Those who are in Christ already possess this relationship.
B. RELEASED from Fear
π Romans 8:15
βFor ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear...β
Grace does not produce a life of constant terror that God will cast us away every time we fail.
Our standing rests upon Christ's work, not ours.
C. RICHLY Blessed in Christ
π Ephesians 1:3
God:
β...hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:β
Notice the tense:
βHATH BLESSED.β
We are not begging God to give us a spiritual position.
We already possess spiritual blessings in Christ.
DAILY REMINDER:
I DON'T HAVE TO EARN GOD'S ACCEPTANCEβHE HAS MADE ME ACCEPTED IN CHRIST.
π Ephesians 1:6.
2οΈβ£ CHRIST IS MY SAVIOUR β REMEMBER YOUR REDEMPTION
π 1 Corinthians 15:1β4; Ephesians 1:7; Titus 3:5β7
Every day we should remember why we are saved.
Not because we were good enough.
Because Christ was enough.
A. REDEEMED by His Blood
π Ephesians 1:7
βIn whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;β
Our redemption is not in religion.
It is in Christ.
B. RESCUED by Grace
π Titus 3:5
βNot by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us...β
Salvation excludes human boasting.
We did not help Christ save us.
Christ accomplished salvation; faith receives it.
C. RESTING in the Gospel
π 1 Corinthians 15:3β4
Our Gospel is clear:
Christ died for our sins.
He was buried.
He rose again the third day.
Do not begin the Christian life by trusting Christ and then spend the rest of your life trusting yourself.
DAILY REMINDER:
CHRIST SAVED MEβCHRIST'S WORK IS ENOUGH.
3οΈβ£ HEAVEN IS MY HOME β REMEMBER YOUR RESIDENCE
π Philippians 3:20β21; Ephesians 2:6; Colossians 3:1β4
From a Dispensational perspective, this truth is especially significant because the Body of Christ has a heavenly position and destiny.
A. HEAVENLY Citizenship
π Philippians 3:20
βFor our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:β
This world is not where our ultimate hope lies.
Our citizenship is heavenly.
B. HEAVENLY Position
π Ephesians 2:6
God:
β...hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:β
Israel's prophetic program concerns God's purposes for the earth, while the Body of Christ is revealed as possessing a distinctive heavenly position.
C. HEAVENLY Perspective
π Colossians 3:2
βSet your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.β
Because our position is heavenly, our perspective should increasingly become heavenly.
Do not allow temporary earthly problems to make you forget eternal spiritual realities.
DAILY REMINDER:
I LIVE ON EARTH, BUT MY POSITION AND HOPE ARE HEAVENLY.
4οΈβ£ SCRIPTURE IS MY GUIDE β REMEMBER RIGHT DIVISION
π 2 Timothy 2:15; 3:16β17; Romans 15:4
Every Christian needs Scriptureβbut Scripture must also be rightly divided.
A. READ All Scripture
π 2 Timothy 3:16
βAll scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable...β
Dispensationalism does not mean throwing away most of the Bible.
All Scripture is FOR our learning.
π Romans 15:4.
B. RIGHTLY DIVIDE Scripture
π 2 Timothy 2:15
βStudy to shew thyself approved unto God... rightly dividing the word of truth.β
Everything in Scripture is true, but everything is not written directly to us.
We must distinguish:
Prophecy and Mystery.
Israel and the Body.
Law and Grace.
Earthly calling and heavenly calling.
C. RECOGNIZE Pauline Doctrine
π Romans 11:13
βFor I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles...β
For doctrine concerning the present Dispensation of Grace and the Body of Christ, we especially recognize the revelation given through the Apostle Paul.
π Ephesians 3:1β9.
DAILY REMINDER:
READ THE WHOLE BIBLEβBUT RIGHTLY DIVIDE THE WHOLE BIBLE.
5οΈβ£ BELIEVERS ARE MY FAMILY β REMEMBER YOUR RELATIONSHIP IN THE BODY
π 1 Corinthians 12:12β14, 27; Ephesians 4:1β6; Galatians 6:10
Every saved believer today is spiritually united in the one Body of Christ.
A. MEMBERS of One Body
π 1 Corinthians 12:27
βNow ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.β
Our spiritual unity is not based upon denominational labels.
It is based upon our position in Christ.
B. MAINTAIN Unity
π Ephesians 4:3
βEndeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.β
Notice Paul does not tell us to create spiritual unity.
The Spirit has already created it.
We are commanded to keep it.
C. MINISTER to One Another
π Galatians 6:10
β...let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.β
Christian fellowship is more than attending the same building.
We should encourage, strengthen, forgive, serve, and edify one another.
DAILY REMINDER:
OTHER BELIEVERS ARE NOT MY COMPETITIONβWE ARE MEMBERS OF THE SAME BODY.
6οΈβ£ THE GOSPEL IS MY MESSAGE β REMEMBER YOUR RESPONSIBILITY
π 1 Corinthians 15:1β4; 2 Corinthians 5:18β21; Romans 1:16
God has entrusted believers with a glorious message.
A. DECLARE the Gospel
π 1 Corinthians 15:3β4
Our message is not primarily:
Join my denomination.
Follow my pastor.
Adopt my traditions.
Our message is:
CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS, WAS BURIED, AND ROSE AGAIN.
B. DELIVER the Word of Reconciliation
π 2 Corinthians 5:19
God:
β...hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.β
We are not Israel's kingdom priesthood.
In this Dispensation of Grace, Paul describes our ministry as ambassadorial.
C. DISPLAY Christ as His Ambassador
π 2 Corinthians 5:20
βNow then we are ambassadors for Christ...β
An ambassador represents another person and another country.
Our citizenship is heavenly.
Our Head is Christ.
Our message is reconciliation.
Our mission is to make Christ known.
DAILY REMINDER:
I AM NOT HERE MERELY TO MAKE A LIVINGβI AM HERE TO MAKE CHRIST KNOWN.
7οΈβ£ GOD'S GLORY IS MY GOAL β REMEMBER YOUR REASON
π 1 Corinthians 10:31; Philippians 1:20β21; Colossians 3:17
Everything eventually comes down to this:
Who receives the glory from my life?
A. GLORIFY God in Everything
π 1 Corinthians 10:31
βWhether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.β
Christian service is not confined to Sunday.
Even ordinary activities can be performed with a desire to honor God.
B. GIVE Christ the Preeminence
π Colossians 1:18
β...that in all things he might have the preeminence.β
Christ does not merely deserve a place in our lives.
He deserves preeminence.
Not the pastor.
Not the ministry.
Not the denomination.
CHRIST.
C. GOAL β Magnify Christ
π Philippians 1:20β21
Paul desired:
β...Christ shall be magnified in my body...β
And then declared:
βFor to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.β
This is mature Christianity.
The goal changes from:
βHow can God make my life better?β
to:
βHOW CAN MY LIFE MAGNIFY CHRIST?β
CONCLUSION
Every morning the world begins competing for your mind.
Problems demand attention.
Responsibilities demand attention.
Social media demands attention.
Money demands attention.
Fear demands attention.
But before the world tells you who you are, remind yourself what God's Word says you are in Christ.
Remember:
God is my Father.
Christ is my Saviour.
Heaven is my home.
Scripture rightly divided is my guide.
Believers are my spiritual family.
The Gospel is my message.
God's glory is my goal.
These are not positive-thinking slogans.
They are truths grounded in our position in Christ.
