Sir James,
It was an honor to meet you and be there in person yo see you Knighted.
I enjoyed visiting with you and getting to know you.
I hope to serve beside you in the future, wherever God may lead us.

Thank you for your kind words SGT Doug, and please know I was very happy to meet you and Renee as well. It was a very special moment for me personally but I also enjoyed everyone getting together and having a good time. I have committed myself to the OMSDT, so I am here for the long haul. I try to have lunch with a friend or co-worker every week. I take someone to lunch and we have an hour to enjoy a meal and get away from the "noise" of life. Recently, I had just finished our prayer and we had begun to eat, when my friend said "why do you always pray for grace and mercy when they are the same thing"? It turned out to be an extended lunch that day!

Mercy and grace are not the same thing. Yes, they may be similar, but they are not the same!

To ask for God's mercy is to ask for His kindness and compassion. In scripture, it is usually used in the context of God’s not punishing us for our sins. A punishment that we all deserve! In Scripture, mercy is often equated with a deliverance from judgment, such as in Deuteronomy 4:31, "For the Lord your God is a merciful God. He will not leave you or destroy you or forget the covenant with your fathers that he swore to them" and in1 Timothy 1:13, "though formerly I was a blasphemer, persecutor, and insolent opponent, but I received mercy because i had acted ignorantly in unbelief."

In receiving Gods grace, it is the extending of His blessings to us knowing that we are not worthy. Two of my favorite expressions of Gods grace are Ephesians 2:8-9 where it is written "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast" and 2 Corinthians 12:9, "But he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me."
