Greetings, everyone. My name is Jay. I was born and raised in Vero Beach, Florida. After graduating, I moved to Orlando and joined the United States Navy. I served 24 years of active duty, during which I saw the world and served my country honorably, including a stint aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt, USS Enterprise, and the USS Crommelin in Hawaii. Some of my favorite places I have had the chance to see include Italy, Hawaii, Japan, Guam, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and England.
My last couple of duty stations were Raleigh, NC; Omaha, Nebraska; and Orlando, Florida, where I retired as a Navy Chief Petty Officer. Navy Chief Navy Pride! (Happy 250th Birthday to the Navy, October 13th, 1775).
I am currently enrolled at the University of Phoenix, majoring in Criminal Justice Administration. During my off time, I commit myself to steady volunteer work within the community of Orlando, such as serving meals at the homeless shelter, working at the Ronald McDonald’s home, and the Saint Judes Hospital.
As a retired military person
I’m drawn to the study of the Knights Templar because their history reflects discipline, courage, and a commitment to protecting others—values deeply familiar to someone trained to serve and safeguard. Learning about how they worked to defend pilgrims and uphold the Christian faith in uncertain times helps me appreciate the kind of moral steadiness and service-minded character worth carrying forward. In that spirit,
I would love to become a “modern-day Templar” by applying those same ideals today: strengthening my faith through study, living with integrity, and using my experience to support my community through protection, charity, and steadfast goodwill. I am also a Past Commander of the American Legion Post 181 from Vero Beach Florida.
