Priory of St Michael the Archangel
Good morning Templars. This bronze plate of a Knights Templar on horseback was handed down to me from my grandfather George Bassett, who got it from his father and so on. He told me it came from the Bassett side of my family in England. I'm not sure when it was made, but there are two companies that replicated (copied) it in the US, the Branford Co in 1870s and Michaels Bronze Co around 1910. Both of those has their company markings, mine does not.

Here is a brief history of a couple of my ancestor grandfathers. Sir Gilbert Basset, who about the beginning of King Henry the Firsts Reign, gave two parts of his Tithes of Stratton, to the Monks of Eynsham, in Oxfordshire; as also the Tithes of Wooll and Cheese throughout all his Lands. Which Gilbert was a younger Son to Sir Ralph Basset, Justice of England, for some part of King Henry the Firsts time; and held seven Knights of the Honor of Walingford.
To this Sir Gilbert succeeded Sir Thomas Basset,* Sheriff of Oxfordshire, one of the Kings Justices in his Court of Ju∣dicature; as also a Justice for Hantshire, Wiltshire, Glocestershire, Dorsetshire, Sommersetshire, Devon∣shire, Cornwall, Berkshire, and Oxford∣shire, in Which Thomas, for his special Services to King Henry the Second in divers Wars, had the Lordship of Hedendon in Oxfordshire, with the Hundred of Boten∣don, and likewise that Hundred, lying without the North Gate of Oxford, given him in Fee-farm, for the Rent of twenty pound per annum, to the Kings Exchequer.
Sir Gilbert the eldest, became Founder of the Priory at Burcester and in1182 was one of the Barons who attended at that Kings Coronation.
he was one of those that under took on the behalf of John, Earl of Moreton, for performance of that Agreement, made between him and William de Longcamp, Bishop of Ely, then Chancellor of England, and Governor of the Realm in King Richards absence.
He, along with his father Sir Ralph and forefathers, was a liberal Benefactor to the Knights Templars, by the gift of divers Lands and Rents at Charing, to that fraternity.
Sir Thomas had the Mannors of Colinton and Witeford, given him by King Richard the First. Also a Grant of Colinton from that he was constituted Governor of Oxford Castle. And executed the Sheriffs Office, in that County, for half that year. He was he less obsequious to King Henry the Third: For in the first year of His Reign, he was one of the Commanders of his Army in the Battle of Lincoln which he died.

Brothers and Sisters,
i want to share with you a moment I had with a woman who was having a really hard time, and how a little compassion, generosity and the Lord goes a long way in helping someone heal inside.
On our way home from a gathering my wife and I attended, we saw a sign for a yard sale and decided to stop. A woman and her two daughters where in the front yard and said everything was in the garage. I could see there was something bothering her so I asked if she was ok. On our way home from a gathering my wife and I attended, we saw a sign for a yard sale and decided to stop. A woman and her two daughters where in the front yard and said everything was in the garage. I could see there was something bothering her so I asked if she was ok. She said, with tears in her eyes, "my husband and I just got divorced and this is all he left me". We talked a little and I found out she had very little means and many burdens.
The things she was selling were not hers, but his that he left. She was trying to sell them to buy oil so she could have heat for her children.
My wife, who is a professional tutor, talk to her and offered to help her children with their school work while I, unknown to her, called a friend of mine who owns an oil service company and arranged for a delivery which I will take care of.
When I told her about what I have done, she began to cry and gave us big hugs.
I told her I would pray for her and she said "I haven't prayed for a long time" I asked her If she would like to pray with me and we did.
We prayed Ephesians 3 14-20 which I do everyday;
14 For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15 from whom every family[a] in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
When we finished, I could see that there was hope in her eyes. To me Brothers and Sisters, this is what I believe it is all about. I will pray for her and children daily.

I am pleased to announce to you new member CAA Steve Chapman to the Order and to the Priory of St. Michael the Archangel. He writes his introductory bio as follows:
"A devout Christian, I had my Sacrament of Holy Baptism with water from St. Peter's Church -on-the-Canal, in Buzzards Bay, MA in May of 1969, and Guild of the Christ Child, Baptism Anniversary, the following year. I've always kept my belief in GOD and our Savior Jesus Christ, and now serve as an Ambassador of Christ being a licensed Ministry Chaplain and Field Minister.
I'm a descendant of many Deacons and Ministers going back to the arrival of the Pilgrims in 1620 with the First Congregation and the Knights Templars. I belong to a historic horse mounted cavalry unit under the CT State Armed Forces, where I hold an officer's rank of lieutenant, which I serve as Quartermaster, historian and member of the training cadre.
I also belong to several sons and Veterans Organizations that all have Chaplains. I've also been in law enforcement for over 25 years and have personally seen how Chaplains help those in need during and after crisis. I myself have been a Crisis Intervention Officer for 20 plus years and have responded to numerous calls for assistance. I became a Chaplain to not only continue my work in crisis intervention, but also provide spiritual services as well to members of those organizations.
I currently live in Wolcott, Connecticut and in my secular life I am a Chief Park Ranger and have been an Emergency Medical Technician for almost 30 years and a current certified instructor for the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
A big part of my life is martial arts. I started training at the age of 7 learning American Combat Karate and then moving to Taekwondo. Later in life I learned Krav Maga, Haganah and various other Karate and Kung Fu styles. I currently hold 4th Degree Black Belt recognition and Master Instructor certifications in several disciplines and I'm the owner and Chief Instructor of Iron Eagle Martial Arts.
I'm a historian with many organizations so my biggest hobby is military history. I enjoy reading, comedy, martial arts and guitar playing."
