My name is Jose Mateo, I’m married and a proud father of five adult children. Although I

My name is Jose Mateo, I’m married and a proud father of five adult children. Although I
currently live in Puerto Rico, I grew up in Massachusetts, which will always be an important part
of who I am. Professionally, I work in auditing in Massachusetts, while currently working
remotely from my home in Puerto Rico. In addition to my civilian career, I serve as a First
Sergeant in the Army National Guard, where I serve in an engineering company. I have dedicated
24 years of military service between the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army.
Service has taught me the importance of discipline, responsibility, sacrifice, leadership, and most
importantly taking care of others.
Outside of work and military service, I enjoy spending time with my family. Whether it is
playing board games, attending family gatherings, or simply being together, my family is one of
the most important parts of my life. I also volunteer within my community and through the
church. I also have a strong interest in reptiles, dogs, firearms, and shooting.
My desire to become a Knight Templar comes from what the tradition of the Templars represents
to me: faith, service, courage, loyalty, and brotherhood. I want to surround myself with like
minded men and women who place God at the center of their lives, strive to live according to
their faith, and believe that we have a responsibility to help others. Throughout my life, through
my family, my faith and my years of military service, I have learned that true strength is not
simply about what a person can accomplish for himself, but about what he is willing to do for
others.
I am seeking a brotherhood built upon faith in God, service to others, personal integrity, and a
commitment to something greater than oneself. I want to continue growing spiritually, strengthen
my relationship with God, and become a better husband, father, leader, and servant. For me it is
about living by a higher standard, standing with my brothers and sisters in faith, serving those in
need, and using the gifts God has given me to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
